DIY, recipes, dressing and travel, as many inspirations that Amandine shares on her blog, Mandy Bla Bla. And ideas, this young Charentaise is full! Jewelry, custo, decoration, his tutorials are always original and well explained! Today, we find it for a DIY of a small leather purse, perfect to serve as wallet or case . "A smart tutorial to make small colored leather purses! It's quite simple to make. I made some to give at Christmas and it worked. Small practical accessory to store your little change, your jewelry, his medication, etc. "

Equipment

You will need: - scrap leather. Here, I used scraps of very soft upholstery leather. They are well suited for making small leather purses. Be careful, however, that the leather is not too thin, otherwise it can tear at the loops of the cord. Leather scraps are found either at leather wholesalers who sell them by weight, or sometimes in large fabric stores. - good scissors for cutting leather. - a punch pliers, to make the holes which will be used to pass the cord. - the cord (cord in hemp, cotton, synthetic or leather lace).

Steps

1 & 2. Cut a circle in the leather. I used a small dessert plate as a template, but we can obviously use a larger template for a larger purse.
3 & 4. Drill the holes. My circle is about 20 cm in diameter, I drew a straight line in the center of my circle to separate it into two equal parts and I then marked where to drill at regular intervals. My explanation is not great, I agree, I am zero in geometry, I did it feeling and it works pretty well so far!
5 & 6. Pass a cord in one direction, then a second in the other direction in order to be able to close the purse. Just pull the cords on each side to close it. I used a hemp cord, but you can very well use a cotton, synthetic or leather cord.
7 & 8. Tighten the cords to close the purse. There are two strands on each side, and leaving them as they are would not be very pretty… So I made a knot on each side with the two strands. The knot I made is a bosco whistle knot (for those who know a bit about seamanship). It is not very complicated to carry out but before you launch with the cord of your purse a little practice on a cord of a larger diameter is strongly advised! We can also put beads for the cord finishes if we do not want to tie knots!
To make the knot, I invite you to follow this link and you will have all the explanations. And you will also find many other knots to make on this blog (good OK, I know the guy who runs this blog well and he paid me to promote it :)). There are also videos on YouTube that will teach you how to make knots.
